Stay Connected

Stay Connected

Jesus said plainly, “I am the vine, ye are the branches… for without me ye can do nothing.”
— John 15:5

This is both a humbling truth and a liberating one.

On my own, I am deeply aware of my limitations. Apart from Christ, there are people who are smarter, more gifted, more resourced, and more talented. Human ability always has a ceiling. Human strength eventually runs out. Human wisdom reaches its limit.

But Jesus never asked us to live by our own supply.

When I stay connected to the Vine, my source changes. I am no longer relying on my strength, my wisdom, or my resources—I am drawing from His. And His strength is without measure. His wisdom is unlimited. His provision never runs dry.

That is why abiding matters so much.

Fruit does not come from effort alone; it comes from connection. Prayer keeps us connected. Generosity keeps our hearts aligned. Obedience keeps the flow open. And just as importantly, we must be willing to remove anything that hinders that connection—anything that dulls our hunger, distracts our focus, or weakens our devotion.

This morning’s resolve is simple and powerful: Whatever you need to do to stay connected to the Vine—do those things. Whatever pulls you away—let it go.

Because life, strength, fruitfulness, and effectiveness all flow from Him.

Prayer:

Lord Jesus, You are the Vine, and I am completely dependent on You. I acknowledge today that apart from You I am limited, but connected to You I can bear much fruit. I choose to rely on Your strength, Your wisdom, and Your provision—not my own. Help me to do whatever is necessary to stay connected to You: to pray diligently, to give generously, to obey faithfully, and to walk closely with You. Show me anything in my life that hinders that connection, and give me grace to remove it. I desire to abide fully and completely in You, knowing that all true life flows from You. In Jesus’ Name, amen.
