The King in the Manger
Merry Christmas everybody!
At Christmas, we celebrate more than the birth of a baby—we celebrate the arrival of a King. The angel declared of Jesus, “He shall reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there shall be no end” (Luke 1:33). The One laid in a manger is the eternal King, and His Kingdom is unlike any other. Earthly kingdoms rise and fall. Wealth fades. Power shifts. Influence disappears. But the Kingdom of God is everlasting.
Jesus later taught us, “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you” (Matthew 6:33). Why? Because the Kingdom is the only thing that lasts forever. When we seek what is eternal, God faithfully supplies what is temporary. We don’t chase money, power, or possessions—we seek the Kingdom, knowing those things will pass away, but His reign never will.
This Christmas, we rejoice in the humility of the manger and the majesty of the throne. We celebrate the baby, yes—but we worship the King. His Kingdom cannot be shaken, and those who belong to it share in something eternal.
Prayer:
Father, we thank You for the gift of Your Son—the King who came in humility and reigns forever. We celebrate Jesus, born in a manger yet crowned with everlasting authority. Help us to seek first Your Kingdom, knowing it is the one thing that will never fade or fail. We choose what is eternal over what is temporary. Our hearts rejoice today—not just in the baby, but in the King. In Jesus’ mighty Name, amen.
